Most Recent Associate Member Distinguished Service Award Winner

The 2011 OPASTCO Associate Member Distinguished Service Award was presented to John Granger, president of Mapcom Systems, Inc., in recognition of his extraordinary level of service and commitment to the promotion of the independent telecommunications industry. Granger has been a leader among OPASTCO’s associate members, and he has been a strong advocate for both associate and telco members.
“I’ve been extremely impressed by his willingness to help with membership recruitment,” wrote Rhonda Armstrong of Sebastian Corp. in her letter nominating Granger. “Whether he’s a speaker, providing an employee to share an experience, or organizing and recruiting other speakers, OPASTCO and the rural telecommunications industry has greatly benefitted from John’s generous donations of time and resources.” In addition to his service on several committees, Granger served on OPASTCO’s board of directors from 2008 through 2009, and he was a key force behind the creation of the winter convention’s Innovations Showcase. Mapcom also has been a frequent and visible sponsor of OPASTCO’s events and membership campaign, as well as FRED programs.
“I want to thank the great folks at Mapcom who’ve enabled me to provide these services, and it’s been a great opportunity,” said Granger. “OPASTCO is like a family to me, and I really appreciate the hard work and effort that everyone puts into this great organization.”
